The Lar São Vicente de Paulo de Itapetininga began its activities as an asylum entity on August 4, 1912, under the name of “Asilo São Vicente de Paulo”. The first headquarters were located at Rua São Vicente de Paulo, 67, Centro, Itapetininga/SP. The current headquarters was inaugurated on June 17, 1997, located at Rua Francisco Corrêa da Silva, 1390, Vila Carolina, Itapetininga/SP. The institution was founded by local Vincentian associates, for the purpose of sheltering needy elderly people abandoned by their families. O Lar is a private, charitable, social assistance, non-profit association, of indefinite duration, with the nature of Long Stay Institution for the Elderly – ILPI.
